Earth Week provides an opportunity to showcase ARAMARK's individual and collective commitment to the environment. To demonstrate this commitment to Environmental Stewardship, ARAMARK has developed this special website, ARAMARKEarthWeek.com, to share just a few of those activities, including some of what is happening across the businesses.

Earth Day Projects Improve Green Spaces from Philadelphia to Seattle
Hundreds of ARAMARK Earth Day volunteers planted trees, removed debris, eliminated invasive plants, and even helped release a rehabilitated hawk into the wild during April and May, in support of Earth Day.

ARAMARK, Mariners Want to Score 0 For Earth Day
At Safeco Field in Seattle, where ARAMARK partners with the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball, the Earth Day competition will be fierce. ARAMARK manages facilities services for the stadium and is partnering with the Mariners organization for the third annual Zero Waste for Earth Day event. ARAMARK and the Mariners will attempt to break their incredible 2010 record of diverting 82 percent of the waste produced in a day, keeping it out of area landfills. The one-day commitment on Earth Day is part of a much larger effort at the stadium. Safeco Field produced about 1,141 tons of waste in 2010, and diverted more than two-thirds of it.

Earth Week Showcases Environmental Commitments
ARAMARK is creating and participating in dozens of Earth Week events to create awareness of and demonstrate our commitment to long-term environmental programs and policies in purchasing, building operations, resource conservation, transportation and waste management.

Volunteer, Meet Colleagues, Help The Earth
ARAMARK is joining forces with the Student Conservation Association (SCA) to support eight environmental volunteer service projects across the country in celebration of Earth Week. The projects will take place April 16 through May 1 at parks, playgrounds, preserves and other green areas, where ARAMARK and other community volunteers will enhance and preserve these natural resources. Projects will include removing invasive plants, planting trees, collecting trash and working on trails. The SCA, a nationwide conservation force of college- and high-school-aged members who serve America’s parks, forests, refuges, seashores and communities, is working with ARAMARK and other organizations to organize and identify volunteers for the events.
