ARAMARK, SCA Join for Second Year of Earth Day Activity
ARAMARK is joining forces with the Student Conservation Association (SCA) to support eight environmental volunteer service projects across the country in celebration of Earth Day. The projects will take place April 16 through May 1 at parks, playgrounds, preserves and other green areas, where ARAMARK and other community volunteers will enhance and preserve these natural resources. Projects will include removing invasive plants, planting trees, collecting trash and working on trails.
The SCA, a nationwide conservation force of college and high-school-aged members who serve America’s parks, forests, refuges, seashores and communities, is working with ARAMARK and other organizations to organize and identify volunteers for the events.
For the past two years, ARAMARK has partnered with SCA, which has been organizing Earth Day events for more than 10 years to promote environmental sustainability awareness and encourage active participation. The ARAMARK /Earth Day partnership creates events that engage volunteers from outside of SCA’s membership.
For ARAMARK, environmental volunteerism is an extension of our everyday commitment to the environment. The Earth Day volunteer projects allow our employee volunteers to get involved in their communities while supporting our environmental commitments.
The projects also provide an opportunity to bring together employees across all lines of business for local Earth Week events. More than 1,400 volunteers from ARAMARK and other organizations are expected to participate.
Earth Day volunteer events will be held in:
- Oakland, CA, at the City of Oakland Park, in partnership with the Friends of Sausal Creek
- Chicago, IL, at Pocket Parks, in partnership with the Community of Little Village
